We reconsidered our driving route coming from Jackson to West Yellowstone and it was definitely a good decision. Our directions had us going over the Grand Tetons at a 10% incline (that's a lot!) on a winding road. Of course, what goes up must come down! So, I wasn't looking forward to coming back down the mountain with 10+ tons of weight. Instead, we decided to take the road through Yellowstone. Added about 45 minutes to our drive but was totally worth it. Wonderful drive and allowed us to see some wildlife. Be sure to check out the new pictures!
While here, we found a local gym that was just a short bike ride from our campground. Nice to get a workout a couple times. Melissa even found a pilates studio and enjoyed a class there. Our second day here was gorgeous! BBQ'd chicken for dinner. Sat out by our firepit and made smores with the girls. Messy but delicious.
Next day we took a evening horse ride. Super fun with just the two of us and a personal guide.
On Tuesday, we decided to take the girls to daycare. We found the BEST place. Jacky runs Zoomies Doggy Daycare out of her home and the girls LOVED playing with her golden retriever, Goose.
Melissa and I spent the day exploring the Grand Prismatic, Lower Geyser Basin, Old Faithful, and Fountain Paint Pots. Had a 15 minute delay as a group of bison took a casual stroll down the middle of the road. Pictures tell the story of this day so be sure to check out the "Pictures" section.
Last night was our second change of plans on this trip. The plan was to have ribeye steaks for dinner but they froze in the refrigerator. No worries. Burgers and salad to the rescue. Easy decision to eat outside as the nice weather continued.
And finally, we made our last change of plans for this stage. We've seen everything we wanted to see in Yellowstone so we're heading to Bozeman a day early. Plenty to see and do there!
