Let me start by saying that I had no idea how much open space there is in the USA until I started driving it. It's kinda mind blowing. You can drive for hours in South Dakota and see nothing but prairies as far a your eyes can see. Everything is green right now so it's beautiful!
We stayed at our first Harvest Hosts location in Pierre, SD for one night. Harvest Hosts is a network of farms, orchards, wineries, golf courses, breweries, etc. that allow RVers to stay on their properties. You pay a small annual fee to Harvest Hosts and your stays are free throughout the year. All they ask is that you spend some money at each location if you're so inclined. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the restaurant during our stay. But the coolest part was our setting. HUGE grass area all to ourselves. You could have literally played polo in this space. Girls loved it!

We spent the next night in Aberdeen, SD. Rolled into Wylie Park Campground after a couple days of travel in the open prairies so we had quite the smorgasboard of bug death on the front of Betty. Wish I'd taken a picture before I cleaned her up.
Funny Story - We're scheduled to be in space 113 at Wylie Park but space 113 didn't have any trees and it was quite a ways from most amenities so they moved us to space 14. All good until we got to space 14 and someone was already there. 😕 I called the front office and said that we could just take space 4 since it was close and unoccupied. Office agreed so we parked the coach. Got things hooked up but, when I leveled the RV, the back tires were 8" off the ground. No bueno! So I put the jacks down, got my leveling blocks out, and leveled it again. Same result. 😒 Clearly space 4 wasn't going to work. So, we went to space 16 which was our 4th space. Felt like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. But space 16 was juuuust right! Level, easy hookups and lots of shade. 😊😎
Took a bike ride in the evening. The park was huge with a lake and a beach area where we enjoyed cocktails. Then we realized that the park was connected to a small amusement park that was, shall we say, amusing. Free entry so we meandered through it on our bikes. Great place for kids! Also, a great place for us to post a few of those pictures that will probably make you smile and say WTF. Can't take yourself too serious. Ordered Door Dash directly to our RV for dinner and enjoyed a thunder storm before calling it a night.
Our last two travel days were rain free but it certainly returned on our way to Alexandria. However, it cleared up in the afternoon for our arrival. Looking forward to spending the next five days with friends at their lake house.

Mama misses you both and the dogs! Looks like you are having a great road trip! Still in Dallas helping Tina with Maverick while Matt recovers from his bike accident. I had their bcue and trager professionally cleaned today,so it looks like we are trying my old trager out for Fathers day! Ribs baby!
