May 5th - Launch Date

After months of planning, we rolled out at 11:40am on Monday, May 5th. Didn't think it would be a good idea to knock back three or four margaritas before we hopped in the coach so we decided to wait until we stopped in Vegas for the night. Easy drive to Vegas but we did have rain the last hour. So much for everything being spotless when we left. Got treated to a great dinner at Hola Cantina including margaritas with our good friend, Harry, and then crashed at his house. Such a gracious host. Had more breakfast options than a Holiday Inn Express and I consider myself an expert since I stayed at a LOT of Holiday Inn Expresses during my sales career.

Funny Story #1: On the way to Vegas, we got passed by a big rig and the girl in the passenger seating was holding up her keys and pointing at us. The rig kept going and we kept wondering what she was trying to tell us. Was she in trouble? Does she need help? Should we call the authorities? Did she want us to get off the freeway? Anyways, we roll on and make a quick stop in Barstow (what a fine city). I jump out to go into the truck stop (one of many in Barstow) to grab a sandwich and use the restroom. When I get back to the coach, I realized that the girl was trying to tell us that we had an entire set of keys in the lock on the door of the coach. Keys got safely back in their proper spot. No harm, no foul.
