Hot and Windy!! That was the drive to Door County. Had to go through Green Bay to get here so I took the time to take a tour of Lambeau Field. Lots of history and I got to see the frozen tundra when it was 92 degrees outside. I really wanted a picture of Melissa and I wearing cheese heads but she refused to do it and I refused to spend $60 for two cheese heads just to get the picture. 🤨
When we parked Betty, Melissa opened the door and the wind was blowing so hard that it ripped the door out of her hand. Wham!! Pieces went flying. Fortunately, nothing major. Hello Amazon. Parts arrived yesterday and the door is better than ever.
Funny Story: I don't write about all the things I do right while RVing (like fixing the door) but I told you that I'd keep it real so I gotta own my comedy stunts. Before we left Madison, I filled our fresh water tank since I knew we had some short stops (Green Bay, etc.) coming up where we wouldn't have hook ups. We got to Rustic Timbers Campground in Door County where we had full hook ups so I plugged in the electrical, hooked up the water, turned it on, hooked up sewer, and finished a few things on the left side of the RV. I came around to the right side and water was running out of the under carriage. I'm not talking about a slight drip. I'm talking about a gremlin under there with a garden hose. Naturally, I ran back around and turned the water off as a starting point to figuring out the problem. I had mud puddles but at least the water slowed down and eventually stopped. Didn't take me long to figure out the problem. 😮🙄 When I hooked up the water, I connected the hose to the fresh water fill connection instead of the RV water connection. Well...the fresh water tank was already full so thank goodness there's a overflow valve that just lets the extra water run out and on to the ground. Turns out that I was the gremlin with the hose. 🤣 Won't make that mistake again.
I liked to thank those of you from Wisconsin that said we HAD to see Door County while we were here. Frankly, we'd never even heard of Door County but we now understand why they call it Cape Cod of the Midwest. Absolutely charming coastal towns and beautiful forest areas! Definitely a hidden gem! You gotta check out the pictures.

Talk about a good time in Door County! I'll try to make it quick but I probably won't succeed. 😁
Day 1 - Melissa found Cave Point County Park so we headed there in the morning. It's a county park but I can see why there are lots of weddings there. Stunningly beautiful and the girls didn't want to leave. We continued to Sturgeon Bay to enjoy lunch and a beachfront walk to Main Street where we perused the town. Then home for a steak dinner before we took a short drive to Egg Harbor Beach for sunset. Pictures from this day just don't do it justice.

Day 2 - Went wine tasting where we engaged in a cherry pit spitting contest. There's video in the "Pictures" tab. I'm sure Melissa is happy to admit that I dominated in this contest. I launched one almost 35 feet which I thought was pretty damn good but it's still 10 feet shorter than the state record. Visited Fish Creek and Sister Bay before heading to Ephraim for a fish boil, which is a Door County tradition that we had to experience. History lesson was entertaining and quite the show. Watch the entire video. Delicious meal served with an ocean view. Ok...you're right. There's no ocean in Wisconsin but Lake Michigan looks like one. Finally back home for movie night.
Day 3 - Got to use my golf clubs for the first time on our trip as we played a 9-hole executive course. Good thing about only playing nine holes is that you get to visit the 19th hole much sooner than normal. Went back to pick up Rita and Stella. Got a short nap. Then off to a few more wineries for wine and cheese tasting. Stella LOVED the cheese. Finished off the day with a Thursday night farmers market and a local concert in the park.
It must be a travel day because it poured rain last night. I'll say again that Door County turned out to be totally worth the stay. We'll have one night at a Harvest Host before a much anticipated visit to Mackinac Island, Michigan. Stay tuned!
