Of course I have to start this post by saying "Happy Thanksgiving". Hope you all got to spend time with your families! We weren't home for Thanksgiving but we're flying home later this week to spend December with friends and family.

I put a link in my last post for Yacht Haven Park & Marine. We LOVED our stay! Staff was fantastic (more on that in a minute). We had a wonderful waterfront site with plenty of shade and turf for the girls. Nice pool area and a decent fitness room. The view from our site was awesome! The park sits on the Intracoastal Waterway so we sat out day and night watching boats of all sizes go by. Lots of large yachts in and around the marina.

I also mentioned in my last post that we had a boat for the week, which we took advantage of. Melissa used the car to go get her hair done and some grocery shopping, but otherwise you could get anywhere in the area by boat. We did several days on the water.

One day we boarded the dogs and did the Hop On Hop Off Water Taxi for the day. It makes about twenty stops along the Intracoastal Waterway and the guide on each boat tells you about things along the way. Did I mention that there are LOTS of LARGE yachts in Fort Lauderdale? Well...there are some amazing homes on the water to go with those yachts. We had a blast that day and stopped into places like Bokamper's (GREAT sports bar), Shooters (little more upscale), Rendezvous (for afternoon appetizers) and Elbo Room (beachfront bar with live music and great bartenders). That was our favorite stop!

We got a chance to see some friends while we're in Fort Lauderdale as well. We made a day trip to Palm Beach to grab lunch with a friend that I worked with for many years. Had a very nice lunch with Chad and his wife, Paddy. On our way back, we stopped and spent some time strolling Las Olas Boulevard, which is ranked as one of the top three most "walkable" main streets in the US. It's a vibrant, tree-lined street with a plethora of restaurants, shops, etc.

I've played in the same fantasy football league for 18 years. My buddy, Jeff, started the league 40 years ago (not a typo). Jeff lives in Fort Lauderdale so he joined us for a cruise on the water and then dinner at our RV resort.

Which leads me back to the staff at Yacht Haven. They were super friendly and helpful. They even organized a Thanksgiving potluck for anyone in the resort. The potluck was the day before Thanksgiving and about 25 people attended. We weren't expecting much but folks went all out with the food including turkey, ham, sausage with veggies, multiple side dishes and deserts. Definitely exceeded expectations! Yacht Haven provided wine, sodas and water. And the staff did all set up and clean up.

We've been on the road for almost seven months and been through all kinds of weather, so it was time to get Betty and Lou detailed. Guys came directly to our site and did a great job. Washed, waxed, and ready to roll!

We both agreed that Fort Lauderdale would be a great place to live. As always, plenty of pictures and videos in the "Pictures" section. I'm sure we'll be back to visit, but now we're headed to Orlando for five days. Epcot here we come!

Enjoy the long weekend.
