Audience Participation

This blog is supposed to be fun so it's time for some audience participation. Last week Melissa and I were out enjoying the day and I needed to use the restroom. So I used the public unisex restroom not knowing that Melissa was gonna use it right after me. I finish up, open the door, and she goes in. Comes out a few minutes later and this conversation happens:

Melissa says with a bewildered look on her face, "Did you leave the seat up?"

I reply, "Yes, I did".

More bewilderment. "Why would you leave the seat up?"

I confidently reply, "Because I'm a kind and compassionate person."

But the questions keep coming. "What? Typical guy. How does that make you kind and compassionate?"

Now I have the chance to get her to agree with me, which is actually really hard to do, so I explain:

"No, I'm not a typical guy. A typical guy walks in and the seat is down. He's not kind enough to put the seat up or maybe he's just too lazy. Either way, he's confident that he can pee without hitting the seat. Even though every guy knows that's nearly impossible. You got a better chance of your wife telling you "thank you" for leaving the seat up than actually leaving the seat down and peeing without hitting it. Therefore, I leave the seat up (not at home but in public restrooms) so that maybe, just maybe, if the next person is a female, she can avoid having pee on the seat. And THAT makes me a kind and compassionate person. Now I definitely realize that this would require HER to somehow put the seat down but not any more work than ME having to put it down."

So this is where the audience participation starts. Share your thoughts and then I'll tell you where we ended up.

Kevin, thanks for the reminder, I need to go and put the seat down before I get into an argument that I’ll never win! Oh and you won’t either 🤩

Love the comments! Definitely made me laugh. That was the first time that I'd heard the "outdoor plumbing" analogy.

Just a quick note before I give you the conclusion with Melissa and I. PLEASE put your name in the "username" box when you leave a comment. I just wanna know who it's from, but it comes in as Guest if you don't add your name and then I have no way of knowing who it's from.

Ok...for the record, I was genuinely trying to be kind by leaving the seat up in public bathrooms, not at home. However, Melissa and all of you (except Dave who had my back) made it VERY clear that I'm not doing you gals an…

Should women complain when women have to put the toilet seat down? Should men complain when men have to lift it?

Rather than worry about trials and tribulations of the toilet seat and the courtesy thereof, might I suggest we do our business, flush the toilet, wipe the toilet seat down, leave the toilet seat up or down, wash our hands after and get back to doing what we were doing before the bio break interrupted us.

enjoy RVing and thanks for asking our opinion :)

Put the seat up, pee, put the seat down. Easy, common courtesy. 🤷‍♀️
