Port St. Joe, FL was exactly what we expected; a laid-back, beach town. A hidden gem on the "Forgotten Coast" of Florida. It's referred to as the Forgotten Coast because it 's one of the few remaining Florida coastlines with pristine beaches that remains relatively undeveloped. Nice homes but no high rise buildings. Port St. Joe only has about 3,500 permanent residents and a quaint downtown that caters to locals and tourists, especially in summer months.

Presnell's Bayside Marina and RV Resort was also exactly what we expected. The resort is a bit unique since it's got RV sites on both sides of a two-lane highway. The inland side is surrounded by beautiful pine trees but we chose the bay side which is waterfront. We had a great site that provided beautiful sunset views from our RV. The resort has full hook ups at all sites, two pools (one heated), a nice hot tub, a big clubhouse, and plenty of grass areas for the dogs.

We supported the local economy while we were here, as we enjoyed several local restaurants, did some grocery shopping, and enjoyed Burger Night at the local American Legion. The place was packed and we got two cheeseburgers (with grilled onions and mushrooms), onion rings, and two strong drinks for $30 including tip. Nice!

We did a day trip to Apalachicola which is a smaller coastal town about 25 minutes from Port St. Joe. What a great town! It's most well known for producing over 90% of all oysters in Florida. Crazy, huh? It's got a great vibe with well-kept Victorian homes and upscale shops and restaurants. We specifically chose the day that we visited so that we could enjoy their annual oyster festival which serves as a fundraiser for the city. Lots of vendors, live bands, etc. Super fun!

Seemed like everyday of our stay brought different weather. Cold for sure. Rain a few days. Wind (30 mph gusts one night). Woke up one more to 42 degrees but feels like 26 degrees. 🥶

But mostly cooler days with sunshine. We enjoyed every day with plenty of time to explore but also to read, play games, watch football, and catch up on normal life stuff. And a few afternoon naps. 😜

We loved Port St. Joe and would recommend a visit. Unfortunately, we had to leave a few days early (more on that in my next post) but the drive to Navarre, Florida was beautiful and it looks like it will be great weather all week.

Until next time...
