Port Lavaca was just a two night stop to break up the drive from Galveston to San Antonio, but it was an enjoyable stop. Our drive reminded us of just how large Texas is. Haven't seen this much open land since we left South Dakota. Personally, I found South Dakota to be prettier.
We stayed at the KOA Matagorda Bay, which sits on the Gulf of Mexico. It's a beautiful bay and is considered one of the cleanest in Texas. We had a waterfront spot with full hook-ups and a patio. Unfortunately, they removed their hot tub but the pool was heated. The place is a bit remote which made it kinda nice. It was REALLY quiet at night. So quiet that I took Rita out to go potty and I could hear her breathing. Crystal clear skies so the stars were amazing. Resort had a nice beach and pizza and wings on-site, which we enjoyed one night. Couldn't pass up a few games of shuffle board as well. To be honest, we've stayed at several KOAs and have never been disappointed.

Then we were off to San Antonio where we boarded the dogs, parked Betty, and stayed at the Omni Hotel on the San Antonio Riverwalk for two days of adult time. More on all that in my next post which should be coming in the next day or two.
Have a great weekend!
