Miramar Beach, FL. Oct 22nd - 26th

We are having soooo much fun!

Miramar Beach, FL has BEAUTIFUL beaches. White sand and crystal clear, emerald water that is just as nice as beaches we've seen in Tahiti and Cayman Islands. My pictures won't do it justice. Year round population is only about 10,000 residents but it's a major destination for tourists and snowbirds. High-rise condos and beachfront houses along the 2-lane road that runs along the coast. Beach bars and eateries as well. There are upscale dining options within a 5-10 drive. If you haven't been to Miramar Beach, I strongly recommend you make a visit. You'll love it!

Destin RV Beach Resort worked perfect for what we needed. The resort is a great location close to everything. It's a small resort with no significant amenities but it's well maintained and has level, concrete sites with full hook ups, nice shade trees, and a heated pool. The beach is a 5 minute walk or a 2 minute golf cart ride.

Speaking of golf carts. We saw this truck at our last resort and almost decided to trade-in Lou and use the truck as our tow car. For some reason, Melissa wouldn't agree. And we love Lou, so we couldn't do it. 🤣🤣

However, we did decide to give Lou some time off and we used this as our transportation for the weekend.

So easy to carry beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, cocktails, hoodies, etc. and go anywhere we needed including Seascape, the venue for the concerts each night.

As I mentioned in my last post, we were here last year for a Luke Combs 3-day concert and we had a blast. So we couldn't wait to come again. This year didn't disappoint! On Wednesday night they had a bonfire on the beach and three of Luke's song writers played acoustically and sang a lot of the songs they had written. Great way to kick off the weekend!

It would have been unfair to the girls to leave them in the RV for as much time as we were away so we boarded them on Thursday for three nights. Good for everyone. They got play time with other dogs and we got play time with other adults.

So...let the fun begin! Midday on Thursday, we headed to the beach for a few hours of chill time. As Zac Brown would say "I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand. Not a worry in the world, cold beer in my hand. Life is good today. Life is good today!" No, I didn't have a beer in my hand. As some of you know, I'm not a fan of beer but the margaritas were cold. After we'd had enough sun, we headed over to Pompano Joe's beach bar for a cocktail and people watching. Spoiler Alert: There's a WTF picture in the "Pictures" section from that day. I'll let you see if you can find it. 😂😕

That night we took the golf cart to see Luke's first night. We LOVE the venue. It's a five minute drive from anywhere in Miramar Beach. Parking is free (there are 100s of golf carts). It's outdoors under the stars. Plenty of food and drink vendors. Clean (even air conditioned) bathrooms. It only seats 5,000 people. All chairs are on grass and each set of chairs is in a "cove", which is really just a small roped off area of either two or four chairs. So we buy two tickets and get our own cove. Probably our favorite feature is that you can order food and drinks from your cove and they deliver within ten minutes. Luke played some of his new songs and "B Side" songs with lots of stories that night. He saved all his stadium hits for Saturday night.

Friday we were off to Crab Island. It's not actually an island. It's a large sand bar where the water is crystal clear and only 2-3 feet deep. You can only go by boat but several companies operate pontoon boats and tiki boats, so we had no problem finding a ride. It's a party vibe with lots of boats, music and drinks. They even have a floating food truck and merchandise boat. There are small dinghy boats that also drive around selling sandwiches, ice cream, drinks, etc. Three hours there then back to Betty to get cleaned up for night two.

David Lee Murphy headlined night two and we honestly didn't know much about him. Well...he rocked it! We didn't realize how many of his songs we knew and that he's a prolific song writer. He's actually written multiple songs for Kenny Chesney. We stopped in for a night cap at Beach Bar (yep, that's the name) where they had a bonfire set up.

Friday was back to the beach where they had two cool bands playing on the beach. Check out the video of The Creekers doing a bluegrass version of Cheap Trick. Didn't see that coming. Then off to the highlight show on Saturday night. Ella Langley opened for Luke and put on a great show. Then Luke tore it up with all his stadium hits including the songs that Melissa and I used as we walked down the aisle and our first dance. Yaa, I can't lie, still makes me emotional every time I hear 'em.

Today, was breakfast at Big Bad Breakfast before we picked up the girls and headed out of town. What a great weekend!

We're in Tallahassee, FL as I'm writing this. Just one night at Tallahassee RV Park to break up the drive on our way to Cedar Key, FL. Look for updates on that next week.

Hope you enjoyed the weekend. Make it a great week!
