Howdy partners! Welcome to Texas.

Another first on our journey. Neither of us has been sick at all, but we were both under the weather for a few days on our stay in Crystal Beach. Nothing crazy, but enough to slow us down just a little.

Fortunately, our stay at Margaritaville Crystal Beach was planned as a week of laying low and enjoying the resort. And since we arrived four days early, we had plenty of time to do just that.

The resort is fantastic!! 150+ acres (some undeveloped) with direct access to 27 miles of beachfront. Very well laid out with 250+ RV sites, many set on two lakes and all within a very short walk of all amenities. As for amenities - two HUGE pools with swim-up bars, eight hot tubs, restaurants, bars, ice cream/candy store, fitness center, laundry facility, outdoor concert venue (very cool!), live music on weekends, always music throughout the resort, dog areas, kids areas, communal firepit, and more. Terrific staff throughout. Super clean! Happy Hour every day from 2:00pm - 5:00pm.

Their Mardi Gras parade certainly exceeded our expectations. Crystal Beach is a small beach community but they did it up! Almost an hour of floats, trucks, cars, motorcycles, golf carts, etc. Really fun morning with the dogs. Then we gave the dogs the afternoon off and we hopped on bikes for a pub crawl. You gotta see the pictures of the parade and resort in the "Pictures" section. Lots of pics of the girls as well.

Galveston is on the Southeast coast of Texas about 40 minutes from Crystal Beach including a 20-minute ferry ride. The city is a major tourist hub due to it's beaches and many cruise ports. We actually considered doing a 3-4 day cruise while we were here. Besides the cruise ports there is a older downtown area with lots of Victorian architecture and history. The beach area has 30+ miles of beaches and LOTS of beach activities including Pleasure Pier, which has amusement rides, etc. Not the prettiest beach since most water on Texas beaches is a muddy brown color, but still a fun area.

Funny Story: One of our day trips to Galveston was a "Get it Done" day. Melissa got her hair colored. I got a hair cut. Dogs went to the groomer. Stops at Petsmart, Fedex, and the car wash. Gas in the car. Lunch. And our last stop was at Walmart to pick up a significant order to restock the RV. We pulled into Pick-Up spot 22 and used the app to tell the store that we're there. Fifteen minutes goes by and no one comes out. Then we get a call from a guy who says he's at spot 22 but we're not there. We tell him that we're definitely in spot 22. We confirm with him that there's only one Walmart Supercenter in Galveston. He asks for the address where we're at. We all start laughing when we realize that the order is ready at the Walmart in Navarre, Florida. Over 500 miles from where we're at.😮 Yep, didn't notice that the address automatically populated the last place that we ordered on-line. 🤣 Oh well, he was really nice and returned everything in Navarre. Melissa spent an hour shopping in the Galveston store while I hung with the dogs.

Quote of the Week: "The only person who never makes a mistake is the person that never does anything."

Galveston was our first stop in Texas, and we had a chill week. Now we have seven more stops in Texas as we explore the state. Remember - you can always see our full itinerary in the "Itinerary" section.

Until next time...
