Changes in Altitude, Changes in Attitude

That's my twist on Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude by Jimmy Buffett. š
Angel Fire RV Resort sits at an elevation of 8,600 feet. For comparison, Deer Valley, Utah is 6,500 feet. Mammoth, CA is about 7,900 feet. I was a little nervous about how Betty would handle the altitude and steep grades. I'm happy to say - no problem! I'm really impressed with the 7.3L gas powered Ford engine. Yes, there was a slight drop in power as we got higher, but never any issue.

Angel Fire is a different world than Santa Fe, and Angel Fire RV Resort is a significant step up from Santa Fe Skies RV Park. The resort sits in the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico and the views are stunning. Beautiful valley and lots of conifer trees on the mountains. Our timing here was absolutely perfect, as the ski season ended last Sunday, so there is almost no one here. There's 103 RV sites in the resort and only 5 RVs including us. We feel like we have a 35 acre ranch all to ourselves. It's awesome! Temperatures are well above normal so days are very comfortable and nights are great for sleeping.

Let's talk about the resort. Top notch! It was finished 10 years ago and everything is high end. Very well done! Level, concrete pads with full hook-ups and lots of grass. Grass is just starting to green up after winter but at least it's not dirt. Huge clubhouse with a nice gym. Nice walking path that goes around the resort. Huge hot tub with valley and mountain views. Nice firepit right next to the hot tub. Since we had our pick of pretty much any spot in the resort, we chose a spot right by the hot tub and we literally have the place to ourselves. Having cocktails while enjoying the night skies in the hot tub has been amazing.

I'll tell you all about Taos and our other activities in my next post, but I really wanted to convey the change in attitude since arriving here. Angel Fire RV Resort will go down as another great addition to our itinerary.
Quote of the Week: If you only look at what is, you may never attain what could be.
Until next time...
