Chilly! That's the first thing I'll say about our stay in Biloxi, MS. Average high temperatures for this time of year are in the low 60s but we had a few days that never got out of the 30s. We went to bed one night that was 23 degrees but felt like 9. A few of the dog walks were pretty damn cold! 🥶 However, we had no rain so we were happy about that. Plenty of sunshine! And the heater in the RV worked great so we spent more time inside than usual. We even did our first jigsaw puzzle. 😛

Funny Story: The first night it dropped below 30 degrees, I left the water hose connecting the site spicket to the RV hooked up. Got up the next morning and we had no water in the RV. The hose, as well as our in-line water filter and pressure regulator, were all frozen solid. Rookie move. No big deal. We just used the water in our fresh water tank until everything thawed out, but I won't make that mistake again.

Biloxi Bay RV Resort was exactly as advertised. We had a nice view of the bay through the trees and plenty of room between sites. Full hook-ups. Level, concrete sites. We spent time at the on-site clubhouse that overlooks the bay and has a full bar, food truck, big-screen tv's, ping pong, pool table, foosball, and cornhole. Something going on every night of the week including cards, bingo, etc. The food truck is connected to the clubhouse so really just serves as a kitchen. The grilled shrimp tacos were delicious!! Outside they had a very nice pool area with two hot tubs. Obviously the weather kept us from enjoying the pool but we hit the hot tub several days and nights. Views were wonderful and you can see photos in the "Pictures" section.

Biloxi's main economic driver is casinos. The coastline is a mixture of casinos and restaurants that attract lots of tourists. There's a boardwalk that's lined with fun lunch spots and tourist stores. We didn't visit the boardwalk at night but I'm sure it's lively when the weather is warmer.

Melissa had read about Cheryl's Steakhouse. It's got a relaxed atmosphere and is run by a mom and daughter. Menu is literally written on a paper bag but, if you're in Biloxi, you gotta have dinner there! Steaks are prepped in a secret marinade and slow cooked over a wood burning fire pit. Yum!! Don't dare ask for A1 sauce or order your steak well-done. You may be asked to leave. It's a small place and they don't take reservations, so you better be there at 5:00pm when they open, or you'll be waiting up to an hour to get a table.

Another night we re-lived some of our younger days at a Yacht Rock concert at Hard Rock Casino. Honestly, it was better than I expected with Ambrosia and John Ford Coley putting on a great show. Ironically, we were in Biloxi for a week but didn't gamble at all. We took the girls for a hike and we all loved the time on the nature trail. It's Mardi Gras time here so there was a "pawrade" on Sunday where folks dressed their dogs (and themselves) in some crazy outfits and gathered at a local park to support animal adoption. It was more like a gathering than a parade but it was a fun time with food trucks, vendors, and music. After the "pawrade", we visited Ocean Springs which is only a few minutes from Biloxi Bay. Quaint town with tree-lined streets and local shops. You could tell there had been a Mardi Gras parade the night before there were beads all over the main street.

We made the short (less than two hours) drive to New Orleans where the weather is warming up. Almost 70 degrees today! French Quarter RV Resort is just a 15 minute walk to the French Quarter so I anticipate some good times here. We already have a history/food tour schedule and a list of things to do and see.

Stay tuned and make it a great week!
